Times are tough in this country. I see some businesses thriving and some offering the deals of the century. I am grateful to have a job now. I have been in the unemployment line a few times over the years. There are many people losing jobs who have been with their company or organization for many years.
There are bright spots, too. Some of the innovations that make people rich, pop up in this type of economy. Look for the things that are lacking or could be useful now, and possibly find your niche! There is always room for new inventions and ideas to improve how things are done. My local paper was mentioning new start up companies that were doing great. People who were let go, started up a company. Possibly a dream they had had in the past, but never had the time to pursue.
I do hope all turns around soon, and we can get this country back to its' prosperous self again. It is a difficult time for many.
Take care all... Sandy

Ranking 5th in home foreclosures
Hopefully this economy will find the bottom soon and start making the climb up. Having heard we still have some months if not a few years to go, are not comforting words for many. The state I live in, Oregon, has the 5th highest rate of home foreclosures. A company in California, named RealtyTrac, Inc. lists foreclosed homes. I am not sure where the statistics came from. My local paper had an article recently. If you are one who is close or going through foreclosure, there are steps to take. A government website can be of help: http://www.hud.gov/foreclosure/index.cfm
Lets all hang in there and keep positive thoughts going. What we put out will come back to us multiplied, so positive is good even in tough times.

Babyboomers Job Search
Good day!
I see I have not been on my blog for quite awhile. I went back to work full time in the end of October and have been very busy. I am not complaining, in this economy I am grateful for a job. On my website there is a page with job help for Baby Boomers and beyond:
http://www.sheboomers.com/careers.html
I have been watching the news and local paper for any sites I could find. I hope if you are looking for a job, you will find one or more of those sites useful.
Good luck to all through this tough economic time in our country. I am keeping positive, as it is contagious and it is a good thing to spread around.

Money Matters
Just added some links for job hunting help and for those who would like to find legitimate places to look for work at home ideas. http://www.sheboomers.com/careers.html
I have looked for many hours, for the work at home websites that were legitimate. I found a large list of them on Good Morning America. Thank you Good Morning America! :-)
Check out the links when you get a minute if you are in need of a new or different career.
Have a wonderful day! Sandy

Money Matters
Hi everyone,
Is everyone as anxious as I am to have the election decided! I am hoping when it is over, people will feel some relief and start feeling more comfortable in the economy. This too shall pass, it always does. It can be difficult to go through. We have noticed a slow down in my husband's business the last 3 weeks. Work has really dropped off. So we are hoping things turn around soon and those with mortgage problems will get some help. Being one in the middle class I am hoping for relief for that group in the near future.
Best wishes through this tough economy and always.... Sandy

Boomers back in school...
Good day!
I recently read an article about a Community College in my area getting a fairly large enrollment from 40, 50 and 60 year olds. I know I have read that a fair amount of boomers feel they will be working into retirement years. The article was stressing that many of these people were now looking for training in something they would enjoy and find fulfilling. I am at this point also. I have been racking my brain of late to find where I would like to work the next 10 years or so. I would like to make a contribution to the community. Anyone else out there having similar feelings?

A four day Outing

We went on a 4 day trip to a place called East lake. It is in Central Oregon. 4 couples went it was a relaxing and fun time. We all spent time fishing, barbecuing, walking and campfires every night. Time sure goes fast when you are out of town on a mini-vacation! Everyone there caught a fish except me. It became funny after awhile!
